Tracy, I know that we have to hold down Nathan when he gets his hair cut. It usually takes two people to hold him down and one to cut the mob of blonde hair. What a wiggle worm. I heard that A.S. kids are extra sensative to the touch, I read that in an article about A.S. kids.

It is unbelievably traumatic to take Emily to a stylist to get her hair cut!! We have to hold her and she sobs and wails like her hair is alive. What I've done is have her (and me!) endure this agony about twice a year and then I cut it in between times (about every 6-8 weeks). I did buy a pair of professional scissors which is a must. For some reason, Emily still has to be held but doesn't cry at all at home -- she thinks it's funny. The woman who cuts my kids' hair is very sweet and patient --thank God-- and I try to take Emily at a time when the shop is not busy.

Even at 15, it is difficult to get Jennie's hair cut. I also go a few times a year just to get it evened out. I take along candy for incentives. She likes to play with the clips and rollers and squirt bottle but even that doesn't last long enough. The hairdressers have been real nice, but Jennie just won't refrain from puling off the cape and wiggling around. I also have special hairdresser scissors and am getting pretty adept at using them!! I'm getting better at cutting Sue's hair---after all these 24 years. Our local shopping center just opened a shop called "Cartoon Cuts" with a TV screen in front of every chair. Sue fussed the first time until we realized they didn't have on the cartoon she had been watching while waiting her turn. They also cut adult's hair so I consider it "Age Appropriate"!
